ACTIVITY FOR PRACTICE
Start with shoulders hunched, chin down and everything collapsed forward and in.
Notice how this feels and then take a deep breath. Get in tune with the restrictive sensations in the body.
Now move into ideal alignment. Chin lifted, shoulders drawn down away from ears, navel gently pulled toward spine, top of head reaching for the sky, collarbones wide, shoulder blades hugging spine. Notice how this feels and then take a deep breath. Get in tune with the expansive sensations in the body.
Both the restrictive and expansive sensations do not stop at the physical body. They are connected to the mind and spirit within. If you are restrictive in your movements there will be tension with your thoughts, cloudiness of mind and more blinders on thinking. If you are expansive in your movements there will be freedom in your thoughts, openness to new ideas and wide open thinking.
